But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you

-Matthew 6:33-

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.

-Pilippians 2:3-

The Word needs to get out

This is what we are called to do:  Put nothing before our reverence and worship of God, and put others before ourselves.  Sounds so simple doesn't it? When you think about it, it is quite simple, yet like the most eloquent descriptive theory or all encompassing philosophy, it is amazingly powerful and even infinitely complex and comprehensive.  How can it be anything but Divine in origin;  it is certainly anithetical to human nature.  We covet money and goods, we often get jealous, we worry about what others are doing instead of what we need to do.   Think, in everyday problems, conflicts, and disputes, if you put the needs or desires of others first what problem immediately ceases to escalate and indeed begins to fade from the picture.  If you worship God with all your heart, you stop worrying about what will happen to you and begin to feel the comfort of TRUE faith.  Consider this carefully - If this was universal, all the problems of the world you can think of literally cease to be of relevance - all our shortcomings become irrelevant!

But it doesn't happen does it? Why?  Because people can take the most simple nothing and turn it into a complex something - an amazing ability with no redeeming qualities.  Truly the first step to leaving the problems behind is the only step and very few can do it on there own.
